Hisense TV Blink Codes – Complete Diagnostic Guide
Hisense TVs use a built-in self-diagnostic system: when the TV detects an internal fault and cannot start normally, the red standby LED blinks a repeating pattern. The number of blinks before the pause is your error code. This guide covers all common Hisense blink codes — from 2 to 10 blinks — and what each one means.

First Step – Power Reset
Before opening the TV or ordering parts, always try a full power reset:

- Faulty backlight inverter board
- Power surge damage to the power supply board

4 Blinks – Mainboard or T-Con Board
Four blinks points to a fault on the mainboard or T-Con board. The mainboard controls all TV functions; the T-Con controls video signal timing to the panel.
How to distinguish:
- If the TV attempts to power on (you hear a relay click) but the screen shows lines, distortion, or half an image — T-Con board is more likely
- If the TV fails to start at all — mainboard is more likely
Always reseat ribbon cables connecting the T-Con to the mainboard and panel before replacing any boards.
5 Blinks – T-Con Board or Mainboard
Five blinks indicates a fault with the T-Con board or mainboard. The T-Con board acts as a controller between the mainboard and the LCD panel. Symptoms of T-Con failure include:
- Horizontal or vertical lines across the screen
- Screen flickers with sound working normally
- Image distortion or inverted colours
- Top half of screen correct, bottom half distorted

6 Blinks – LED Backlight Failure
Six blinks almost always means one or more LED backlight strips have failed. Hisense TVs have a protection circuit sensitive enough to detect even a single failed LED. The TV may briefly show an image before shutting down.

- Test LED strips individually with an LED tester or 9V battery
- Check the LED driver on the power supply board
- If strips and driver appear healthy, check the mainboard
No Blink Code – TV Completely Dead
If the standby LED does not light up at all:
- Check the power cable and wall socket
- Check the fuse in the plug (Ireland/UK models use a 13A fuse)
- If power is confirmed reaching the TV, the power supply board has likely failed completely
- If the red light flashes immediately when the TV is plugged in (before pressing power), this typically indicates a mainboard fault
