🛠️ Step-by-Step Diagnostic Workflow
Step 1 — Soft Reset (Try First, Always)
- Unplug the TV from the wall outlet (not just standby — pull the plug).
- Press and hold the physical power button on the TV body for 60 seconds.
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Plug back in and power on.
This discharges capacitors and clears transient software faults. It resolves a surprising number of no-power and blank screen issues, especially after power surges.
Step 2 — Visual Inspection (Before Opening)
- Check the power cable and wall socket with another device.
- Remove all HDMI/USB devices — a faulty peripheral can pull down power rails.

Standby Voltage Test
The PSU must supply ~7.8V in standby before it will attempt full startup. Locate socket P201 on the PSU and measure between pin 12VM and GND with a multimeter (DC volts).

The T-Con connects to the main board via an LVDS or V-by-One ribbon cable, and to the panel via multiple LVDS/TCON-to-panel cables. Always reseat these cables before replacing the T-Con board — they are a common cause of intermittent faults.
OLED TVs note: On LG OLED models, the T-Con plays a much larger role — it manages both image timing and pixel power. A failing OLED T-Con may cause the TV to shut down immediately on startup as the panel protection circuit detects invalid signals. This can appear identical to a PSU failure.
T-Con replacement is plug-and-play on most LG models — no soldering required.
💡 Backlight / LED Strip Replacement
Backlight failure is confirmed by the flashlight test (see above). Unlike board replacements, LED strip repair requires full panel disassembly:
- Remove back cover, disconnect all boards, remove stand/wall mount.
